I am the first to admit that this week did not go at all as planned. It was my intent to finish work on my whitepaper (the project I was actually working on when I discovered the recent Anthropic and Google behaviours).

I understand that journalists are busy people - but it become a concern that some of the main stream media were writing articles on this issue after clearly having not read it, with pieces littered with mis-quotes, mis-information and generally shoddy reporting (yes I am looking at you Gizmodo, seriously wtf even was that, it was almost impossible to read and made no sense whatsoever - but no you were not alone).

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that a forum called Reddit is full of users whom have clearly never read anything, let alone the topic they are discussing at any given time - but I didn't expect the "Boss" of Google Chrome, Parisa Tabriz, to take to the cesspit that is X and make public statements which fly in the face of irrefutable evidence.

Several media outlets in the last 8 hours have started to quote Google's PR with claims that users are able to "Opt Out" of this (I presume) wonderful and generous 4GB gift that I never asked for, never wanted and will never use.

Perhaps I need to make this clearer - Hey Parisa, even if I wanted a browser with AI capabilities there is not a snowball's chance in hell, that that browser would be Google Chrome or that the models I would allow it to access would be Gemini Nano, Pico, Macro, Micro or any other size or model created by Google.

First and foremost - Opt Out is not the required legal standard here, Opt In is.

Second, you reached in to my device, changed a configuration (the chrome profile flags) and gave yourself permission to install something I did not authorise - that, is a crime under Chapter 9 of the Maltese Criminal Code.

Your PR statements to the press are demonstrably false. In the original article I went to great lengths to paste the explicit evidence of events which took place and the logs clearly and irrefutably show that YOU reached in, YOU flipped a flag, YOU authorised Chrome to download the Model and YOU then authorised Chrome to surface the Settings UI after the fact.

The settings UI was not surfaced to the end user until after you had already breached multiple laws and stored the model on their device, used up their bandwidth and their energy and invaded their private sphere - it is right there in your own manifest.

So for once in your existence, can you please just accept you fucked up, apologise and fix it, instead of just making everyone even more angry by lying?

It is a beautiful forecast for the weekend here in Malta and I would rather spend that time with my wife, than writing criminal complaints against corporations that know better and really need to do better.
